A team of faculty members of SWU ‘Neofit Rilski’, Blagoevgrad with interests in the field of European integration, consisting of Prof. Gabriela Belova, Ph.D., Prof. Preslav Dimitrov, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Nikolay Marin, Ph.D., Assistant Prof. Anna Hristova, Ph.D., Assistant Prof. Maria Paskaleva, and Assistant Prof. Yordanka Noneva-Zlatkova, Ph.D., implement project No. 101047808 with name "European Data Protection: Post pandemic effects and new dimensions" (EDP-PPEND), which is implemented with the financial support of Program "Erasmus +" 2021-2027, action on the initiative "Jean Monet" in the field of higher education.
It covers several activities grouped into 2 work packages. The first Management and dissemination of the project, which aims to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the project activities in the SWU, the achievement of the intended goals and results and to promote the projects, activities, knowledge, events, results and the European source of funding among the main target groups, stakeholders and the public by developing a project website. The second package is the Jean Monnet Module on Data Protection, which aims to update the curriculum of Law, International Relations, National Security and Finance majors by preparing study materials and teaching a 3-year course on the subject "Data Protection in EU and third countries'' within 45 academic hours of lectures and 15 academic hours of practice per year of approx. 90-120 students per year (including doctoral students). Conducting 1 guest lecture per year, delivered by an expert in the field of personal data protection, who will present the current moments of the practice. The project also covers research activities in data protection theory and practice. Also, the organization of 2 one-day public roundtables in Bulgaria (Blagoevgrad in the academic building of SWU) with min. 30 participants (representatives of the academic society, students, doctoral students and other specialists in the field, which aim to support the public discussion and exchange of best practices, experience and knowledge regarding data protection).
